The Dancer is my favorite... no doubt. You Said Something is also a favorite - it's got a killer riff in it. Totally catchy. I could easily pick a handful off of Is This Desire, too.

... and you can't go wrong with Sheela-na-gig.

Sometimes I'm a "Sheela-na-gig"/"50 Foot Queenie" kinda gal. Other days I'm all "Plants and Rags"/"This Mess We're In."

50 FOOT QUEENIE except i've been singing 60 foot queenie for years now as I paint the houses. Something about that one really helps one rip the seal off a fresh 5 gallon bucket.

see now, "to bring you my love" is very special to me. my friends and i would all get really drunk, and blast the whole album. we'd all sing really loud and dance around to "meet ze monsta", and all that rot. to this day, if i'm in my home town, i can start belting "i was born in the desert..." on the street, and a whole chorus of stoners will join me!

That whole cd To Bring you My Love is wonderful but I agree that song is powerful. A few weeks ago my tribe and I did the same thing. There is something very cathartic about the combination of the guitar and the raw vocals, she sure does conjure up some amazing imagery in all of her songs.

I love a good gut wrenching sing from deep in your belly song.

I can't pick just one. They're all so great. But the first one that caught me was "The Dancer". Currently anything off of "Is This Desire?" gets me off.

Wow. You guys have BEAUTIFUL taste!

ALL of my favorites have been mentioned, and I have LOADS of them. I was beginning to feel redundant. But then I remembered a real fave that NO ONE has listed yet. Perhaps, perhaps, people don't know this one.

    "One Time Too Many"
It's track #5 on "Six Feet Under: Six Feet Under Soundtrack"
I purchased this cd a couple of years ago at Amoeba Records in S.F. for $4.95!!

"One Time Too Many" rocks my head off!
The only BAD thing about the song...it's 2 minutes and 52 seconds long. (short)

I really love Maniac, Hook, Hardly Wait, Rid of Me, Long Snake Moan, Oh My Lover, and Who Will Love Me Now.
The list could go on and on!
Oh, Suzen- "One Time Too Many" is a B-side from Is This Desire as well. Just a little FYI in case you collect her singles. : )

Thanks for the knowledge...No, I do not collect her singles, but I'd like to think that I do.

Is 66 Promises one such single? I got it on some promo cd they gave out at the SF show. That show was one week after September fucking 11th. She was so cool about it all. Recognized it, paid the respect but didn't do any drama. Just ROCKED her New York stories hard.

Left out Kamikaze. I didn't miss it then, but it has become a favorite. You know, one of the 26 of them.

        Kamikaze

I can't pick one! As we all do, I love them all! It's incredible to love every single song a particular artist has ever made! There are bands that I like, and love most of their songs, but with PJ Harvey, it's a guarantee that I'll love every single one ever, I bet!

    Wow, what a Goddess!

Hi, I'm new to the tribe but a PJ fan of old. I saw her very first show in L.A. at the Roxy in '91 when PJ dressed all in black, no makeup, hair greased back, with her one pirate hoop earring. My favorite songs of the moment are...

      Wang Dang Doodle
      Dress
      Hair
      Hook
      Easy
      Angelene
      Is This Desire?
      Naked Cousin
      A Place Called Home
      We Float
      Send His Love to Me
      Yuri-G
Urn with Dead Flowers in a Drained Pool

MANIAC! and of course Sheela, but I wish they would remaster that song, everytime it pops up, the levels always seem so low.

Maniac is one of her best! But I also love Rid of Me because she wails! You should hear some of her live versions of this song. it gives you the chills.....
