I have had and am still having the weirdest phenomena swirling around Rid of Me.
Here is what happened.
I bought Rid of Me like 5+ years ago.
I lost it....wanted to listen to it...baaad.
Tore the house up...tore it up.
Gave up.
Years pass...I find it stuffed somewhere....Happy!!!
I listen to it...love it and all is well.
Then....it's gone again.
Repeat...tearing up the house....repeat giving up.
OK....
Now doing major house cleaning recently....SUPRISE....I found it!!! Awesome.....when done....I put it in a very safe place.....
Last night I am going to collect and condense my music collection....and guess what is again missing....FUKKK!
Just wanted to rant.....
Please somebody give me some cyber solace.

Re: Rid of Rid of Me.....
Thu, December 1, 2005 - 1:17 PMYour story reminds me of the album. Full of desperate needing and seeking. Ready to knaw off a limb in search of fulfilling that desire. Calling out for help and a prayer. -

Re: Rid of Rid of Me.....
Thu, December 1, 2005 - 1:54 PMMaybe next time you find it, you could tie it to yourself?;)
I'm sure it will come back when you most need it.... savor your frustration my love... -

Re: Rid of Rid of Me.....
Thu, December 1, 2005 - 11:57 PMseems like the album is trying to be rid of you. Like an unwilling captive it's struggling to get free... escaping, hiding. When next you find it, perhaps you should convince it it is out of love you imprisoned it and see if you win its eternal obedience.
Or perhaps it really does like you and is just playing difficult in which case you need to bring home another copy and make it jelaous to lure it out of its hiding place. -

Re: Rid of Rid of Me.....Is this Desire....?
Fri, December 2, 2005 - 6:14 AMThere has to be something metaphysical to all this.
Maybe my longing for 'Rid of Me' is what drove it off?
Maybe it's trying to tell me something?
Some things are truly not meant to be...even though both parties need and want it....Is this Desire...I ask myself?
I just ordered it (Desire)....maybe when it arrives I will find my answers?
Is it time for Rid to return?
Maybe 'Rid of Me' has inner hurts that it knew I just couldn't handle?
I'm so full of pain and despair now.....maybe the Ridding will come full circle?
Because in addition to Desire I also ordered a copy of "To Bring You My Love" which I disposed of for spiritual reasons.
Magdalena knows why.
PJ's music is so varied and subtle....one must find their own answers...in music and in life.

Re: Rid of Rid of Me.....
Fri, December 2, 2005 - 8:19 AMYou're not the only person this has happened to. In every move I've made, I've lost my copy of "Rid of Me". I think the album is really wanting me to be rid of it. Or something like that. *shrugs*

Re: Rid of Rid of Me.....
Sat, January 14, 2006 - 9:47 PMI would not let the loss of poison me anymore.
I went out this afternoon and purchased another copy and am currently playing it at this moment.
I forgot how truly awesome this CD is....
I don't know if there really is a lesson to be learned from chasing Rid of Me over the years, all I know now is that I have it.
Pining for things lost....a waste of time?
Probably, but oft times unavoidable.

Re: Rid of Rid of Me.....
Sun, January 15, 2006 - 1:33 AMYou reeeeeeally should buy one of those BIG cd cases which hold tons of cd's, and put all of your PJ Harvey cd's right in the front pages, followed by the rest of your cd collection. But, remembering to put the cd away after listening to it would still be an issue. PJ Harvey cd's should come with a sensor on them, so you could push a button and it will beep, like when you can't find the cordless phone.

Re: Rid of Rid of Me.....
Sun, January 15, 2006 - 5:47 AMRid of Me has been more slippery than Tolkien's 'One Ring' slathered in silicone.
It was more than strange that it kept disappearing like it did.
I have ransacked the house on numerous occascions only to come up frustrated.
Now-I am going to keep Rid of Me in my CD player....so unless it get's struck by lightning or stolen...it ain't going anywhere.
I do actually have a 150 CD, Cd case....now....didn't before.
If I talke PJ on the road, I will definitely heed your advice.
Thanks....
