no more tours?

I read a few weeks ago that PJ announced that she would not be touring anymore. This is from NME online:

RID OF HER?

PJ HARVEY sensationally revealed onstage in PARIS last night (December 17) that she is quitting playing live.

The star was performing in front of 350 competition winners at Studio 287 in northern France when she announced: "This is the last show I will ever play."

The comment came in the wake of the likely last ever live show from The Libertines on the same bill.

The comment also echoes the statement made by David Bowie back in 1973 at London Hammersmith Odeon. It later transpired he was only retiring his alter-ego Ziggy Stardust.

PJ Harvey played a set featuring songs covering her entire 13-year career, including 'Victory', 'Me Jane', 'Shame' and the closing 'Meet Ze Monsta'.

    from www.pollyharvey.co.uk:

"NME have quoted Polly as saying that Paris was her last concert ever...!!! This was a mis-quote, what Polly actually said, at the show, was 'This is OUR last show' referring to the current line up for the Uh Huh Her tour. It is believed Polly is about to take some time away from public view, let's just hope it's not too long...
Thanks for all the concerned e-mails in the meantime!"

It was a complete joke. PJ said "tonight is a very special night. it is our last show (the whole audience screamed)... ever!" - she laughed, everybody laughed, and the gig went on. I talked with Maria Mochnacz after the gig, she told me PJ was absolutely not going back to university. She added they would work on the DVD in January and February, and confirmed Polly is working on the soundtrack of the new Terry Gilliam movie (Tideland). I asked Josh if he was gonna work again with PJ, he said he didn't know, but he was happy it was the end of the tour. Believe me, PJ is definitely not quitting music. Maria told me she was tired and sad "because it was the last show of the tour".

        Good....

It would kill me to never have seen PJ....I have been enraptured by her since I saw her on MTV way back when Dry first hit.

went out the next day and bought it....she is my one music constant...others come and go...but not Polly.

I see these are old posts but I'm new and I haven't REALLY gotten to see her yet myself- the only time she came to TX it was to open for U2.... you can imagine.
